Fully Integrated Camp Solutions for Remote Operations

Turnkey base camps from Alaska Structures® provide complete, fully integrated living and operational environments for projects located in remote or undeveloped regions. Designed as self-contained facilities, these camps support workforces ranging from small advance teams to populations numbering in the thousands, providing the infrastructure required to sustain long-term operations while maintaining workforce safety, comfort, and productivity.

Unlike temporary housing solutions assembled from multiple vendors, Alaska Structures® turnkey camps can be configured as unified operational systems. Each camp is designed based on workforce size, deployment duration, environmental conditions, and project logistics, allowing organizations to rapidly establish dependable infrastructure in locations where permanent facilities do not exist.

Turnkey base camps are commonly used to support large construction projects, mining developments, energy production sites, infrastructure programs, disaster recovery operations, and remote industrial installations worldwide. Camp layouts are engineered for efficient workflow, safe personnel movement, and scalable expansion as project requirements evolve.

Case Study: Rapid Deployment Mining Camp Supporting Remote Operations

320-Person Camp Delivered in 26 Days. Installed in 14 Days.

Alaska Structures® provided a turnkey base camp for a prominent gold mining company in West Africa requiring immediate deployment in a remote desert location with extreme environmental conditions and limited existing infrastructure. The customer needed a complete operational camp system delivered and installed on an accelerated timeline so mining operations could begin without delay.

To meet the urgent schedule, Alaska Structures® supplied a 320-person turnkey camp that was available for immediate shipment from U.S. inventory. The complete warm-weather camp was transported internationally and delivered to the project site within 26 days. Once on site, Alaska Structures® coordinated construction of the entire camp in just 14 days, with approximately 90 percent of the installation completed by locally trained labor under Alaska Structures® supervision, allowing the customer to rapidly establish safe and functional operations.

Following the successful deployment of the initial camp, the project scope expanded and the customer placed an additional order for a 720-person workforce camp to support continued operational growth. The long-term performance of turnkey base camps from Alaska Structures® has also been demonstrated through this customer’s separate 500-person mining camp installation operating in Arctic conditions, which has remained in service for more than 18 years.

Facilities supplied for the project included:

  • Manager dormitory buildings
  • Contract labor dormitory buildings
  • Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management (EPCM) office facility
  • Executive gym facility
  • Large-span recreational sports buildings
  • Environmental control units and air distribution systems
  • Complete interior systems including partitions for creating separate rooms, furniture, lighting, and electrical
  • Installation services and local workforce training

This deployment demonstrates how turnkey camp systems from Alaska Structures® enable mining and industrial operators to establish fully functional workforce communities quickly, scale operations as project requirements evolve, and maintain long-term performance in both extreme heat and cold environments.
