Engineered Pump Station Enclosures
That Reduce Environmental Impact

The 800-mile-long Alyeska Trans-Alaska Oil Pipeline — the largest privately financed construction project — was a massive undertaking. In fact, it involved the construction of 12 pump stations, three refrigeration plants, 10 arctic construction camps, 62 gate valve enclosures and a 1,000-acre marine terminal. The engineering, procurement and construction logistics required more than 7,000 workers operating year-round in the arctic climate.

Given the project’s scope, protecting the beautiful Alaskan wilderness was a primary concern. The client chose Alaska Structures to provide both the portable and permanent infrastructure because of our key abilities:

  • Reduced environmental impact
  • Shorter construction times
  • Few foundation requirements
  • Low-maintenance structures
  • Easy structure relocation

Taking environmental responsibility and reducing environmental impact must be priorities for all phases of remote projects. Alaska Structures works with site directors, project managers and EPCM firms to create building solutions with minimal foundation requirements. Furthermore, clients can use our structures as permanent installations or easily relocate them as a project’s needs change.

Alaska Structures has been instrumental in the successful construction, operation and expansion of pump station enclosure facilities. We provide engineered fabric buildings for the following applications:
