Alaska Small Shelter System®
The Alaska Small Shelter System® (20 ft. wide x 32.5 ft. long x 10 ft.) is the only commercial shelter system tested and approved by the US Air Force for use in the Basic Expeditionary Airfield Resources (BEAR) program's Harvest Falcon and Harvest Eagle housekeeping packages. In 1997, Alaska Structures® was awarded a 4-year production contract by the USAF for the new Air Force Small Shelter System. The Alaska Small Shelter (AKSS) is the only commercial shelter tested and approved by AFOTEC to meet and exceed all of the requirements of the 1999 USAF Operational Requirements Document for the New Family of Portable Shelters. Since 1998, over 10,000 Alaska Small Shelters have been provided to the USAF to replace TEMPER tents in the BEAR program.
AKSS can be connected end-to-end, side-to-side or end-to-side to create multi-shelter complexes. All AKSS' come with a mil-spec cover system, complete insulation system, non-slip floor, 30 in. x 80 in. hard door, 4 ft. x 7 ft. zipper entry, (4) windows, plenum, incandescent light string, and quick connect electrical harness with 24 outlets. Additional AKSS models include side windows, side entries and stove pipe flanges as standard features. AKSS' can also be customized with entry vestibules, Environmental Control Units, carry bags, containers, one-piece liners, fluorescent lights, European lighting and electrical distribution systems, generators and other optional items.
